WHO IS YOUR DADDY? Is your daddy really your daddy?

Sometimes ago, I was listening to a friend’s gist about the first time he stole from his father. According to him, he was still in Primary school, Primary 2, as we’ll call it here in Nigeria. It happened that he misplaced a class mate’s Song of Praise (S.O.P) hymn book. Let’s call my friend, Daniel and his Classmate Jonah. So Jonah took Daniel’s S.O.P and told him to go and buy another one, and until then, will he get his S.O.P back.

Daniel who was very clueless, and scared of Jonah, started thinking of how to get money to buy the S.O.P back because his father was too strict to hear of such carelessness. So he started calculating, if the price of S.O.P was 100 naira and he was given 25 kobo every day to school, he would steal about 30 kobo from his father’s pocket every day, to achieve his goal of 100naira in a term.

Apparently, he had the perfect heist plan on his father, 30 kobo was just some of the loose change in his father’s pocket, he wouldn’t realise the missing money, so he thought.

Unfortunately, he forgot one of the unique qualities that made his daddy a good accountant is his ability to pay attention to the littlest of details.

That wasn’t the only loophole to this heist, he knew he couldn’t keep the money on him without his mother noticing, so he decided to give Jonah the money he gets every day till the 100 naira was complete. You can imagine how Jonah was even more delighted at this foolishness. So every day Jonah walks up to Daniel, and asks for his S.O.P, Daniel hands over all the money on him to Jonah.

This went on smoothly for 3 days until Daniel’s father decided to call him. He noticed the first money stolen and decided to investigate why his Son will steal from him, he did this because according to him, his father said, “I know I didn’t train up a thief, I just needed to understand why you were doing it”. Daniel had to confess to being bullied in school.

Surprisingly, his daddy’s angry face changed into a smiling one, then his dad told him “Daniel, I am disappointed you’re allowing yourself to be bullied, but I know it is because you don’t know the strength you have in you’’ and this gets more interesting as he says

“when you get to school tomorrow if Jonah asks you for his S.O.P slap him if he asks again slap him the second time. And whatever happens afterwards, ensure the school authorities call me, do not serve any punishment”.

I know some may disagree that this is a piece of terrible advice, but the interesting thing here is, this timid Daniel walked into school the following day with so much confidence and absolutely no fear whatsoever because he knew full well he had his daddy’s back up, total full support no matter what happens. And as you’ll expect, Jonah came with the same demeanour to intimidate Daniel, but to his amazement, Daniel slapped him so hard, that he fell to the floor confused and in shock.

Now, this is many of us as Christians. We forget who our father is, and allow the devil toss us left, right, centre and foolishly we are bending to his will forgetting, if we as most speak to our father in heaven,

he’ll be there to direct us in the right path and fight our battles.

There was a second story Daniel told me about one of his many experiences with his dad, that made my conclusion on this article; Who is Your Daddy?

If you’re a parent reading this, you’ll agree with me that punishing your child your way is better than any other person touching your child. In fact, so many parents will as most give an order that their child should not to be beaten in school. That was Daniel’s dad precise instruction to the school authorities when he enrolled Daniel into a boarding high school.

And it happened that one teacher decided to beat Daniel, this caused Daniel a broken nail and swollen palm. Daniel knowing who is father is just told the teacher calmly

“you will regret this’’.

He went straight to his housemaster and demanded to speak with his father.

2 days after that, Daniel’s dad was in school with soldiers as his escorts, but here is the interesting part, Daniel’s dad told the soldiers to stand down and went head-on with the teacher himself, of course, he beat the teacher to a pulp. Do you get the vibes of your father fighting your battles himself, while you’re shielded and protected?

Matthew 7: 11 – “If ye then being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him”

My direct translation to this is if your earthly father can be this protective of you, how much more your Father in heaven if you just ask. If you call upon him in situations that are unpleasant to you, he has promised in His word that he’ll be there.

Daniel 11:32b says – “but the people that know their God shall be strong and do exploits”.

The question is, how do you know God? If he is your father, are you like him? Will he boldly call you son or daughter? Are you a family of the kingdom?

I realised to become a member of the family of the kingdom is so simple, Jesus said in the book of Matthew 12: 50 –

“for whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister and mother”.

What is it you’re dealing with that seems bigger than life itself, Jesus is telling you here to know your father. God is your father in heaven, he knew you before you were born, he created you, he is a compassionate father. He has promised as much that if you call on him he will answer you.

Another promise in

Isiah 49:15- “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you”.

Charge him by his words, let His word be your confidence in whatever situation you’re facing. Go ahead and challenge whatever is against your life or fulfilment of destiny. He is your daddy, he is there to back you up, to shield and protect you. He has given you the power to have dominion, make him proud by exercising that power through his words.

Who is Your Daddy? To me, my daddy is my father in heaven, watching over me, protecting me providing for me, ready to be at my beck and call when I call on him. My daddy is a mighty man in battle, he has the supreme power over all principalities and powers, he has given me the power to overcome battles, to do exploits and to do his will.

Do you know your God? Who is your Daddy?

Sometimes u need that God-fidence to know how to forge through situations. It might come as literal words from your from your father, or reading God’s word and it speaks to a situation in your life. Regardless it’s important to know who your father is! Mattew 7: 9-11. Says it all.
